Men often buy luxury and exotic cars partly based on the response from women.  British psychologist, David Moxon backed this up with science.  The study was for auto insurer Hiscox which says that revving of a high performance engine is sexually arousing to women.  There was 40 adults in the sample and saliva samples was taken before and after listening to the each car to measure testosterone level.  The sound was provided by Lamborghini and Ferrari engines using a Volkswagen Polo for point of reference.

Conclusion by Moxon is that all women had a significant increase in testosterone levels after listening to the Maserati engine but only a little over half of the men shown increase.  The revving of the Volkswagen Polo led to a decrease in testosterone for some prospects.  Perhaps this is usefully information for romance, instead of putting on slow and soothing music we might want to try the throaty rumble of a high performance vehicle.
