
Accelerating the adoption of sustainable financial instruments, including sustainable bonds in developing countries

In 2023, with financial support from the Luxembourg government, GGGI established the Global Trust Fund (GTF), a four-year programme to accelerate the adoption of sustainable financial instruments, including thematic bonds and debt-for-nature swaps, in developing countries. LuxSE is an implementing partner for the GTF.

This two-day workshop conducted by the Luxembourg Green Exchange (LGX) and LGX Academy, had the objective of increasing the capacity and understanding of green bond issuances by providing inputs and information on the entire lifecycle of the issuance of a green bond within the context of Jamaica’s market to accelerate the expansion or growth of the green bond market in Jamaica.
The workshop was attended by around 60 participants from public and private sector stakeholders who are considering future thematic bond issuance and/or have issued these bonds and wish to gain a better understanding of compliance with international standards.
It was held in-person in Kingston – Jamaica, organised in collaboration with the Jamaica Stock Exchange, the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and the European Commission.
13 to 14 February 2025
This two-day capacity building workshop aimed to providing targeted knowledge and skills to stakeholders from both public and private sectors. By exploring topics such as the design and issuance of thematic bonds, alignment with taxonomies, and reporting requirements, the workshop will strengthen participants' ability to scale sustainable finance in Thailand. Additionally, it highlighted the complementary role of Transition Finance in supporting high-emission industries and entities in reaching their sustainability goals.
The workshop was attended by around 40 participants and showed concrete case studies from Thailand and the region. It was held in-person in Bangkok, organised in collaboration with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand (SEC) and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI).

11 February 2025
This one-day capacity building workshop, attended by 45 participants, was conducted to provide the foundational and technical knowledge and enhance the readiness of the Government of Lao PDR, potential corporate issuers, commercial banks, and securities companies towards the first thematic bond issuance in Lao PDR. It was organised in in-person format in Vientiane in collaboration between the Lao Securities Commission Office (LSCO) and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI).

5 to 6 October 2023
Under the GGGI GTF, LGX Academy provided 2 days of in-person training in Abidjan during the “Colloque Regional sur la Finance Durable”.
Participants of the training came from different West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) countries, issuers of debt instruments at the Bourse Régionale des Valeurs Mobilières (BRVM) and different financial stakeholders.

26 to 27 October 2021
As part of the GGGI Vietnam Green Bond Readiness program, LGX academy provided 2 days online training to 48 participants from various entities such as Securities companies, banks, Vietnam Stock Exchange, Hanoi Stock Exchange, Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange and the Ministry of finance.
The training provided professional bond market regulators and participants In Vietnam with a thorough understanding of the sustainable bonds’ ecosystem, of new development in the market and most importantly of best practices in issuing green, social and sustainability bonds.
