Since 2016, the Luxembourg Green Exchange (LGX) has been at the forefront of sustainable finance, helping to bring greater transparency and visibility to sustainable securities worldwide. As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, we look back on a decade of growth, innovation and impact - and ahead to the opportunities that will shape the future of sustainable finance.
From a bold idea to a market pioneer
In the years leading up to 2016, sustainable finance was gaining momentum, yet investors still faced challenges in identifying genuinely green investment opportunities and accessing reliable, standardised documentation.
To address this gap, the Luxembourg Stock Exchange launched LGX - the world’s first platform dedicated exclusively to green bonds.
By introducing clear eligibility criteria and ensuring easy access to issuer documentation, LGX helped set new standards for transparency in sustainable finance.
